Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience
Such a long title…but the fun should be equally lasting. It tracks the famous teen band around the world during their 2008 Burning Up tour, recording popular reaction and some of the backstage action you normally don’t get to witness. With the Jonas kids very popular at the moment, this ought to be on the wanted list of many a music fan – and folks looking for successful young role models, as the Jonas Brothers certainly qualify in that department.

Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li
The Street Fighter revival continues with a new movie based on the popular gaming series. Many of its characters have become a source of inspiration not only for gamers, but for a whole variety of people – martial arts fanatics included. In the latest cinematic episode, the story revolves around Chun Li, arguably the most popular Street Fighter persona. Expect significant ham and over the top action from this one, as it vows to get the job done right this time – many still think 1994’s Street Fighter flick wasn’t up to snuff.
Director: Andrzej Bartkowiak
Starring: Kristin Kreuk, Chris Klein, Robin Shou, Cheng Pei Pei
Rating: PG-13

Race to Witch Mountain
Here’s an editorial confession – ever since his “the people’s hero” eye-brow raising days of the 90’s, The Rock has been a personal favorite and liked thespian. He’s always fun and impressive both as an actor and all-round nice guy, and here we have him in a family-friendly science fiction romp about extraterrestrials, shadowy conspiracies and kids on the run from shadowy conspiracies. Don’t miss out on it!
Director: Andy Fickman
Starring: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, Christine Lakin, Cheech Marin

Knowing
It’s been a while since we had a proper disaster movie featured here, and why not? Especially since this one has a unique father-son relationship. Too bad the son in question has just dug up a strange device that can tell the future, and possibly even determine subsequent events – most of them not exactly on the tranquil side! But it’s all good fun, with the appropriate dispensing of glorious CGI and dramatic effects. We know you’ll have a great time with this big-budget adventure.
Director: Alex Proyas
Starring: Nicolas Cage, Rose Byrne, Chandler Canterbury
Rating: PG-13

Monsters vs. Aliens
In a cool twist on the old Men in Black story, a little girl becomes a “monster” thanks to space debris crashing onto her house. She then finds herself in a secret government complex with a whole bunch of misfits, aliens and so-called monsters, who are later enlisted in a fight to save the planet. Plentiful fun ensues and everything turns out great – plus we’re left with one of the most promising animated capers of the year, and the first big cartoon release of the spring-summer season.
Director: Rob Letterman, Conrad Vernon
Starring: Seth Rogen, Reese Witherspoon, Keifer Sutherland
Rating: PG

Push
While on a mainstream, action-centric roll, here’s a movie that strangely enough had few people talking about it in Asia, even though it was made almost entirely in Hong Kong! Push also relates to this month’s theme, featuring as it does a cast of young stars portraying a group of supernaturally-enabled kids on the lam. They’re hiding from, you guessed it, a shadow government that wants to use their powers in its own vile machinations. But the good guys can’t let that happen – they’re role models, for pete’s sake! Hong Kong regulars will relish scenes shot on location in a big Hollywood movie, for a change.
Director: Paul McGuigan
Starring: Dakota Fanning, Camille Belle, Chris Evans, Djimon Hounsou
Rating: PG-13
